since he has not been sleeping well at night but sleeping just fine during the day, we decided to go with the baby whisperer's thought of easy. eat, activity, sleep, you time. his first activity was some tummy time using the boppy and then just play time in his bright start mat. he does such a great job of keeping his eyes open and taking in all that is surrounding him.
the second activity was his first bath. as stated in the title, this first was not nearly as important as yesterday's. would you rather have a smelly man united fan or a clean kid unattached to a team. i know gibbs and hendricks will support my stance. we got all our supplies ready including excess washcloths and wipes, all laid out below.
the only time our son ever really, really cries is during diaper changes. even the quickest, most routine change will produce a scream so blood curdling that cps is bound to be called on us should we have to change him in public. well, that "only time" just got doubled. our quinn hates baths. a snapshot is below after having his face washed.
and here is an action shot of his arm getting washed. kel did a great job but the kid was just not having it.
a video showing the process. he is so cute when fussy. ask me to repeat that statement in a year or two...
quinn's laundry was done tonight and folded all nicely on the couch. bella found that to be an invitation to crawl right in the middle of all the piles and plop down. she is being so good with quinn so we let her hang out there.
one thing we noticed with the videos... if they don't play, click on something else and try them again. i have got both in this post to work so i know they are available.
and the finished product, with dad. kel did his top half and i did the bottom half. when preparing to do his legs, i crouched down and almost had projectile poop hit me in the face. at least he was smart enough to do it before his legs and butt were washed.
a big thank you to those who have brought us food this week. if i may rave on our church for a brief moment, it does such a marvelous job making sure new parents have meals for the first few weeks of parenthood. we have provided meals in the past and been thanked accordingly, but i can understand first hand just how special, useful, and caring those meals are. thanks to all involved or to be involved.

in conclusion, the second half of this post was typed one handed as quinn woke up 20 minutes before feeding time so we are letting mom get 20 more miutes of sleep (and bella who is snoring incredibly loudly)! pretty good compared to previous nights.

He is so adorable and you are both doing an incredible job parenting him. He should start being OK with diapers and baths soon; hang in there!
Alaina is the same way with diapers and baths. She acts like she is going to die when you bath her.
And I'm all for the Baby Whisperer routine. It works for us. I also read somewhere at some point that after being awake for 2 hours they should be headed for a nap. That has kind of helped me in figuring out how things might look timewise. I'm sure as long as you make sure you are feeding every 3 hours at least that he will get his nights in order. That just takes a few weeks sometimes. But having that basic Baby Whisperer order will help alot.
You guys are doing great! I love it!
Pierce hated baths at first too, but they soon became one of his most favorite things to do. It looks like you guys are doing well. Give him a high five from Pierce.
I hope somebody warned you before hand that the first bath is awful. I remember thinking it was going to be so great...but Brooks screamed the whole time and peed all over himself. Oh the joys of all these precious "firsts". Looks like y'all are having fun with your family of three. Love all the pics...keep 'em coming.
Glad to hear we were not the only ones with a horrible first bath experience! You guys are doing great and he'll get into it before you know it!
