i really want to take the kids to boston for july 4th when they are old enough to appreciate it. but for now, i will admit that it is much easier to drive to a park, hang out with friends, watch the fireworks, and then drive home quickly and without traffic or waiting forever to catch the T. even if the fireworks themselves are really no comparison, the whole experience is much easier to pull off with two kids who are up past their bedtime, so it will do for now.
this year we went to roanoke on the evening of july 3rd and met some friends up there to watch the roanoke fireworks show. it was nice to see our friends and quinn really enjoyed the fireworks. after almost every one he would point to the sky and exclaim, "wow mommy! look at that!". he told me which ones he liked better, clapped after some, and told me that one of them looked like bugs. and because of all of those things - the experience i got to share with my sweet boy - there was nowhere else i'd rather have been.
waiting for the show to start
love this boy
loud noises that kept her up past her bedtime did not make her very happy!
