she now has both bottom teeth and seems to be working on another one because she is chewing on EVERYTHING. you can see in the pictures below that i couldn't even stop her from chewing on things for the 10 minutes i was taking her 7 month pictures. she chewed on her blanket, the chair, her dress, and anything she could get her hands on.
caroline has finally decided she likes solid food. so far she hasn't really liked anything on the first attempt, but by the second or third try she is enjoying most foods. she has had avocado, sweet potato, bananas, applesauce, and oatmeal (not plain yet, just mixed into her fruit for breakfast). peas are next. we'll see how much she enjoys those - peas were the only thing quinn didn't like from the first bite. oh, and i should add frozen yogurt to the list of foods she's tried. we went to get frozen yogurt tonight and when i got back from the bathroom john says, "hey, watch this!" and gives her a bite of his yogurt. what?? for some reason he seemed surprised that i wasn't as amused as he was, but i guess in his defense a few bites of froze yogurt probably isn't the end of the world (if it only happens this one time!). oh, the differences between the first and second child. :)
sweet girl is finally starting to babble a little more, though her communication method of choice is still screeching. and she is seriously thisclose to crawling. it is going to happen any day now! she can go easily between sitting and rocking on her hands and knees - she will often get onto her hands and knees, walk her hands forward to grab a toy, and then go back to sitting to play with the toy. she just can't quite get her arms and legs going together yet. but she really really wants to do it! she is also starting to pull up into standing. the other day john set her on quinn's bed while he was changing quinn's diaper and when he looked back at her she was holding onto his bedrail and standing up! she is growing up way too fast.
she is still pretty attached to john and i (maybe slightly more me, but i do feed her so can you really blame her?!) but she's starting to get much more comfortable with other people as long as she knows them. she does well with family, but still really dislikes being in the nursery. i have yet to make it more than 30 minutes into my bible study before getting called to come and get her because they can't calm her down. of course, as soon as i get there and pick her up she immediately stops crying, puts her head on my shoulder, and flashes the nursery worker a big smile. and during church, the only way the nursery workers can get her to calm down and take a nap is by pushing her up and down the hallway in the stroller. i feel kind of bad that she's the "difficult one", but i am so thankful that they are willing to do that so that we can enjoy the service without being called out every week to get her.
and for my own memory, she is sleeping 9-11 hours straight most nights. occasionally she wakes up once in the night but it is happening less and less frequently. she eats 4-5 times/day and has solid foods once or twice each day. she is napping for two good naps (anywhere from 45 minutes - 2 hours) and sometimes has a short power nap early in the evening, though she seems to be dropping that one as of the past week or so.
happy 7 month birthday to our sweet, happy, snuggly baby girl. we love you caroline!
