one afternoon while the kids were napping, i made a big pot of hot chocolate and we loaded up the car with blankets, snacks, and christmas music. when they woke up, we told them to put on some jammies and hop in the car - we were going to look at christmas lights! they were so excited! i love that tradition, but i wish there was a place to go closer to our house. we left several hours before dark, but it took an hour to get there and the line was crazy long just to get in the gates. we just barely made it in before closing time!
