Easter 2014

This year, Easter was particularly fun because we now have two little ones who are starting to understand the real reason we celebrate. We are doing our best to keep the focus on Jesus and not let eggs and bunnies dominate the weekend. We spent a lot of time talking about why we celebrate and it was a great family weekend.

Our celebration started on Good Friday with our church Easter egg hunt and picnic. We played on the playground and the weather was beautiful!

After we played for a little while, they call all of the kiddos to the pavilion where they share the story of Easter with them and they have a snack. Here are Sloane, Caroline, and Barrett waiting patiently for the story to begin.

best buds!

After the story and snack, they divide the kids up by age and they get to do a little Easter egg hunt. C was clearly excited - haha!

already learning the joy of sharing chocolate with your best friend :)

That afternoon, we ran to Trader Joe's. Quinn wanted a picture with this little bunny so I humored him.

The next morning, we made resurrection rolls. They were a little more challenging this year because I had to make them gluten free for Caroline. But they were still really yummy!

funny faces

I always hold my breath a little when we take them out of the oven, but it worked again! The homemade marshmallows melted, leaving an empty "tomb". He has risen!

Getting ready for church on Sunday morning. Love this one and the way he's looking at daddy while he fixes his tie :)

silly faces, once again

love this one!

i love these three so much

After church, we had lunch at our house with Gigi and Papa, Aunt Kat, Uncle Earl, and baby Elliott. Elliott wasn't thrilled about being in this picture.

Goofy kids with their baskets on their heads! Getting ready to hunt some eggs in the backyard.

John practiced his back flip on the trampoline during the egg hunt.

Throwing a confetti egg at Papa

Chasing Aunt Kat!

That evening, they had fun playing with one of their Easter basket gifts!

Tired baby girl! She fell asleep in my lap during her bedtime story so I enjoyed some snuggles. This hasn't happened in a long time!

How blessed we are to live in a place where we can spend all weekend celebrating the death and resurrection of our savior with friends and family. I love that I get to share that story now with my children!
