thomas and his friends

quinn has loved thomas the train for a while, but lately it has become a whole new level of obsession in our house. thomas will occasionally join us for dinner. when quinn gets ready for bed, we often have to wash thomas's hair and brush his teeth too. the other day, quinn fed thomas some crackers at snack time. quinn sleeps with his thomas pillow, takes his thomas backpack and nap mat to school, loves to wear his big boy thomas underwear, and pulls his thomas rolling suitcase all over the house. he has multiple trains named thomas...we have "bath thomas" (a plastic one that is actually a bath toy), "big thomas", "little thomas", and "black thomas" which is not even really thomas at all and embarrassingly makes us sound a little racist when we talk about him in public! "black thomas" is really just the black steam engine from his train table that he pretended was thomas until he got an actual thomas train.

quinn constantly says things like: "that car is steaming ahead of us", "thomas biffed the bumpers" (i don't actually even know what that one means...), "percy is being the back engine", "thomas is shunting the cars!", "cinders and ashes!", "an idea flew into thomas's funnel" and "then there was trouble"....all things from thomas the train that are just a part of our normal vocabulary. the other day he got in trouble for getting out of bed and he asked, "mommy, are you cross? are you cross like sir topham hatt?". sir topham hatt is always cross with thomas!

so, all of that being said, there was really no question about what quinn was going to be for halloween!

will, quinn's bff from next door, loves thomas almost as much as quinn does. so we decided to make the boys matching thomas costumes for halloween. it took a few late nights, but they turned out just how we hoped they would! the boys really enjoyed them and got to wear them for their fall festival at school and for over an hour of trick-or-treating on halloween night.

will has a little sister exactly one week older than caroline. poor little sisters had to just be part of the boys' costumes for their first halloween. i'm sure when they're older they will complain about that, but we thought it was really cute! we made annie and clarabel "costumes" to fit over the double stroller, since annie and clarabel are the passenger cars that thomas pulls. caroline and sloane were such sweet little passenger cars! :)

gigi and papa came by earlier in the evening to take pictures and grammy came just as we were leaving so she got to go trick-or-treating with us!

it was a fun night!
