what a fun month this has been! caroline is starting to communicate more clearly, using a little bit of sign language (mostly "milk" and sometimes "more" and "all done"), a couple of words ("mama", "dada", and sometimes "bye"), and a lot of grunting/squealing/pointing. she knows what she wants, there's no doubt about that. it's just up to us to figure it out!
she has transitioned from the "human vacuum", an affectionate term for her love of putting anything and everything in her mouth, to the "baby t-rex" as far as nicknames go. she has a way of making this noise that sounds like a dinosaur (think jurassic park) when she wants something or is frustrated with something. it's kind of funny and scary all at the same time.
caroline is still primarily crawling, though she loves to pull up and is getting pretty brave with cruising. we are pretty sure that she thinks she can actually walk - she squeals and gets this proud look on her face when we help her walk. she loves it. and she doesn't even try to hold on to us, like she really thinks she's doing it on her own. she can also crawl up and down the stairs and tries to climb on/over anything and everything in her path. she's a little daredevil!
she continues to have a big appetite and will eat just about anything. she tried oranges for the first time last week and that's about the only thing lately that she hasn't loved/inhaled. tonight was her first taste of curry chicken and she's a fan! she loves drinking water out of her sippy cup, and even more than drinking the water she loves to let it dribble down her chin after taking a sip. she cracks up laughing and if anyone around her laughs too, she'll do it a hundred more times until she finds something else to entertain her.
caroline still loves her big brother and loves to play with him. she's going to be a tough girl, as he's already tackling her and rolling around on the floor with her and she loves it. she's so happy and just lights up when he's around.
happy birthday, sweet girl! we love you more than you'll ever know. i can't believe you'll be ONE next month!
