caroline's personality has really started coming out...and this girl is something else! not only does she make her wishes very clear, but if you don't do what she wants you to do (or you take something away that she shouldn't be playing with) she is NOT happy. as in, she groans, squeals, and/or throws a mini-fit. she definitely knows what she wants and she's not afraid to express herself! it does make me kind of worried about how things will be in, say, 15 years.
for example, miss sassy pants got a teeny tiny bite of cake last week for the first time. of course, she LOVED it. john walked into the room and saw what i was doing and couldn't believe i was giving her cake (to be fair, i would have had the same reaction if it had been him giving her cake!). so i gave her another tiny bite and she actually turned around, looked at him, and smiled this smile of, "ha! did you see that?! i got another bite whether you like it or not!". i gave her a few more bites, because her reaction was so hilarious, and she did the exact same thing, turning and looking at him with a big smile, every time! we are in trouble with this one...
caroline's favorite new trick is dancing. she has really started getting into music and loves to stand and bounce or shake her hips to the music. she has this little squat/bounce/hip-shakin' move that is really cute.
the biggest development this month is pretty much a night-and-day transformation of her sleeping habits. until about a month ago she was still in our room, usually in the pack-n-play. it was a big difference from quinn, who started sleeping in his own bed at 3 weeks. but caroline's room is upstairs and across the house from ours and it just feels so far away. i wasn't ready for my baby to be that far away yet! but, it became impractical because she's such a light sleeper and we were constantly waking her up down here. the first night we put her in her own bed she slept twelve hours straight, without even a peep. and i will admit, it did make me wonder why we didn't do it sooner! every night since she has slept at least 10 hours straight. and most nights she goes down without even a sound. i miss having my baby girl close, but it's nice that we're all getting better sleep at night!
other things to remember about this month:
-the girl can eat. A LOT. she loves her food and will pretty much eat anything. new foods include quinoa, chicken and pork tenderloin, finger foods (mostly fruits, veggies, and scrambled eggs), and foods with more seasoning (like sauteed spinach with butter and garlic).
-she also really likes to drink water, either from her sippy cup or a regular cup
-she absolutely loves to swing and wants to go really high
-she continues her streak of no crying in the nursery at church! hooray! that is a BIG accomplishment!
-she gets SO excited when one of us comes home. as soon as she hears the door, she drops what she's doing and takes off as fast as she can to greet us with a huge smile on her face. that's the way to make mommy and daddy very happy :).
-caroline loves to play peek-a-boo. she will hold something up over her face and wait for you to comment (i.e. "where's caroline??!) and then she will pull it down with a sweet smile, then crack up laughing. she gets so proud of herself for that one!
-bath time makes her so excited she can hardly stand it. she will stand outside the tub, bouncing and holding on, reaching for the water, and squealing until you finally strip her down and put her in the tub. she loves splashing with quinn, playing with toys, and even getting water dumped on her head. bath time is full of a lot of laughter these days!
-she is still a mommy's girl. she adores her daddy, but when she needs something she needs her mommy. and i'm ok with that :).
happy 10 month birthday, sweet baby girl. your happiness, laughter, and beautiful smile brightens our days. we love you more than you'll ever know.
she struck a little model pose for this one
quinn wanted to get in on some peek-a-boo action
sweet laughter

Sweet girl! I love that she's so happy!!! And that dress is one of my favorites; we bought it with you guys on our trip to London! It's so sweet to see Caroline wearing the girls' clothes.
She's growing up so fast. Don't you just love seeing the brother/sister relationship grow as they interact and play? Too cute!
