cinco de mayo

we traveled down to san antonio for cinco de mayo so that john could play in the annual soccer tournament with his former a&m teammates. it's always a fun weekend - catching up with old friends, kids running around the sidelines, and a bunch of guys in their 30s trying to play soccer like they're still 20 :).

at halftime the boys got to play on the field and shoot on the big goal

and during the game, quinn got to play soccer on the sideline with grayson and eli. note that grayson has on the full leeds kit (his dad's team) and quinn is wearing his man u jersey.

they did awesome on saturday and advanced to the semi-final game on sunday morning. caroline napped during that game.

and then woke up to watch daddy play the second half.

here's the one good action shot i took of john. our keeper got hurt in the semi-final game so john stepped in. of course you can't see the ball in this picture, so it kind of looks like he's just doing something goofy. but i promise, he did just kick the ball!

i'm guessing, based on how long john limped around the house after this tournament, that at some point we will have to do something else to get together once a year with these guys. but for now we really enjoy a soccer-filled weekend with them!
