5 months

so, this is a really, REALLY late post. the thought of things on the blog being out of chronological order stresses me out a little, so i was waiting to get caught up on the other posts. and then time got away from me / we procrastinated / blogger got a new format and we were too lazy to really figure it out so we just got annoyed with it. in any case, here are some really cute pictures (which were actually taken on her 5 month birthday, so they're accurate at least) and an update to the best of my memory. it's sad that i'm struggling to remember what was happening 4 weeks ago, but i am.

at 5 months, sweet caroline was sitting up pretty well on her own. one day i put her in a little tripod position  - sitting up with her hands on the ground - and by the next day she was just sitting on her own! she wasn't too stable but she is sitting for longer and longer periods of time. she was starting to really chew on things and love putting things in her mouth.

during that time she was also really starting to enjoy her exersaucer and bumbo seat. really anything that keeps her upright makes her happy. she also got a new baby swing on our swingset in the backyard and she loves it!

sleeping went through a bit of a rough patch for about a month. she had been sleeping long stretches at night since basically the day we brought her home from the hospital, but for the first time she was starting to wake up several times in the night. sometimes she just wanted her paci, sometimes she was just restless, and sometimes she acted hungry. we now know the reason, but we will save that for her 6 month post on tuesday since it technically was not part of her 5th month! oooh, suspense. :)

caroline has started becoming very clingy around mommy and daddy, especially at night. she doesn't like us to put her down and especially not leave the room. even just for a minute! on one hand, it is kind of nice that she wants us. quinn was always pretty content with just about everyone so i will admit that it's kind of nice to have a child that really prefers and wants you. however, on the other hand, it is difficult to get anything done sometimes and we feel bad leaving her with other people because she can be kind of fussy if we aren't there.
