purple is the new black

2 weekends ago, some of our favorite people came to visit and it was a great weekend! the cook and stump families (sans curtis and mark) stayed with us for the last 2 nights of their winter break trip. after hearing that they were coming, scott and alexis booked a flight so that they could be here and take part in the fun times. since the kiddos were tired from a busy week in oklahoma, we didn't do a whole lot of anything, but that's what made it great. we played outside, ate good food, and just enjoyed being together.

opening some gifts - animal finger puppets which he has since named tur-tur (the turtle), peasant (the pheasant), bortie (the monkey), and ringtail (the raccoon). let's be honest...john clearly named the raccoon...it's the only one that's not weird or something that sounds exactly like the name of the animal. but that's ok...we never claimed our kid is creative :)

on saturday afternoon we ate lunch outside and then played in the backyard. we were thankful for a beautiful day!

and then we enjoyed the weather a little more...we walked up to the playground so the boys and big kids could play basketball while the little ones played on the playground. here's caroline enjoying some love from connie!

and, to satisfy scott's deviled egg fix (gross!), we ate dinner at kincaid's...

this one is hilarious. it took brennan a few minutes to realize that scott was massaging his shoulder using his weirdo-double-jointed skills. it almost doesn't look that weird until you try to do it yourself. go ahead. your elbow should not be on the other side of your head!

and to make john very happy, the kids all watched soccer on sunday morning after getting ready for church. john is very proud to have rubbed off on them :)

like i said, we really didn't do anything exciting but we had a lot of fun! quinn hasn't stopped talking about "unc sock", "lexis", "aunt bandy", "aunt connie", "buba", "hannah", "dabid", "liz-bet", and "emm-mah".
