we recently went to boston because we wanted to show off caroline to our family up there and quinn was still free for one more week (kids fly free until their second birthday... we got this trip in by 4 days). we really didn't do too much, which was perfect because all we had to focus on was spending time with friends. each night we were there was spent with numerous folks. the thomason's were gracious to host us, giving up their bed and youngest daughter's room, and the puetz's threw a great "welcome caroline" party, and we are especially grateful to everyone for sacrificing a weekend to hang out with us in any spare time that was available. on to the pictures!
eden, brennan, and q reading blue truck.
more reading! it was fantastic to see how well q got on with everyone. i do not even recall that "shy period/hide between daddy's legs" period...
kelly puetz and my sweetie. one of the fun things about being a new parent is watching two new mothers together. a constant flow of support and suggestions from two women who are embracing their new roles. wonderful.
this picture is from one morning when we were getting ready so we put q down on the bed next to cgb. look how sweet those two are holding hands. you should notice q's pj's because he will tell you about them if you don't: choo-choo jammies. which choo-choo? taaa-mas.
caroline even got a welcome sign thanks to ty and kelly (with one of those two probably deserving of most of that credit)! lucky girl! some coy planning allowed a boston rotation to be playing in the background at this party: sweet caroline by neil diamond, dirty water by the standels, tessie, shipping off to boston, and for boston all by the dropkick murphys. fun fun.
q with brennan and elizabeth playing in eden's kitchen. the stump and cook kids were awesome with q... he had such a fun time and called for each by name long after they left each night.
cooks sans curtis with our youngest...
three great friends with asher. what a fun boy he is. we cannot wait for him to start being mobile so he and quinn can form an indestructible gang.
hannah, you were so helpful with c. we will regale her with tales of how you cared for her this weekend.
katie needed a turn with cgb.
keep on passing the rock. connie's turn!
another one of eden and quinn being silly. kids are so much fun to watch interact and these two didn't let us down. hilarious.
a bit blurry but a fun picture of q and i with elizabeth.
and a non-blurry one with david. somehow we never got a picture with either kid and emma. that will have to be rectified soon!
we finish up the post with a quinn holding asher and caroline (which would become one name... i.e. mommy! i need hold asher-caroline).
here quinn is showing that both need to come back for some more picture taking.
overall, a tremendous trip. as you can see, we didn't do much in terms of sightseeing or going downtown (only went once)... we just strengthened bonds with our boston family and it was magical. we miss you all already and we are so thankful for giving us an amazing weekend.
by the way, don't travel with your kids on a flight that leaves at 6am when you know in advance they won't go back to sleep on said flight. the flight up left at 7pm, which was another experience, but that 6am return flight... whoo. it doesn't help when you boy throws up and possibly pees on you either. all worth it, though!
