happy 2nd birthday to our sweet boy!
it's hard to believe that 2 years ago we were just getting to know our precious new baby boy. our first child. our sweet little one who loved to snuggle with us. and now he's 2! and he's definitely not a baby anymore. he's a full-fledged little boy who loves to play outside and make messes and run around. and now he's also a big brother. a loving big brother who loves to hold his sister, give her toys, and comfort her when she's crying. yes, quite a lot has changed in 2 years. and even though it does make me a little sad that my love is growing up so fast, i am so proud of the little boy he's becoming and am excited to see the great things God has planned for him. quinn has already blessed our family in so many ways!
so now, at TWO, quinn loves:
-to play on his "car truck table" that daddy painted
-watching thomas the train. several times each day he will sit on the couch, get the remote, and say "i need watch taaaa-mas". he's been spoiled lately by getting to watch a little more tv than normal since it's a good way to occupy him while i feed caroline!
-reading books, which are all "good books", as he says. after each book, he will take it to the bookshelf and get " 'nother good book" to read. he is starting to know many of his books by memory and can narrate most of them on his own.
- everything related to trains. he has several train toys and he will play for a long time by himself with his "choo choos". and somehow, he knows anytime we get close to train tracks when we're driving and he will start looking for the train. and if we go over any big bumps (or actual train tracks) in the car, he excitedly yells, "train tracks!!".
-his sister. he comforts her when she's crying, by rocking the carseat or bouncing the bouncy chair or trying to put her pacifier back in her mouth. he will say "i need hold care-liiine" and snuggle for a minute when i put her in his lap. and he loves to get right in her face and talk to her during tummy time. he's a sweet big brother!
-playing outside. he is seriously ALL boy. he loves to climb, jump, splash in puddles, play in the dirt, pick up leaves, swing, slide, and just about anything else you can do outside.
-his "big boy bed"! he has done SO great with that transition!
he talks up a storm. sometimes i'm pretty sure he talks just to hear himself talk. and he's started singing now, which is so cute. he will sing made up songs to caroline in the back seat of the car. his favorite song is "i'm in the Lord's army", but he calls it what sounds like "i may nom-ee" which is how he says the first line of that song ("i may never...").
he is learning so much! i know that's normal at this age, but it continues to amaze me! he can sing his abc's, recognize a few letters (mostly "m", "w", "y", and "o"), and count to 10. he's also finally learning a few colors. i was honestly starting to wonder if he was colorblind because he was learning so much but just could not figure out colors for a while. he also has a great memory, which i definitely cannot take any credit for. those genes come from his daddy! he has a thomas the train memory game that he loves to play on the ipad and he is so good at it. he is also learning the names of many more things, like fire trucks and dump trucks instead of just trucks in general and the engine/caboose of the train instead of just the train in general.
and finally, some cute little "quinn-isms" that i want to remember :)...

and finally, some cute little "quinn-isms" that i want to remember :)...
- "oh boy!!"
- "i need uh-stairs choo choo"
- "sah-wich" - what he says everytime you ask him what he wants for lunch
- "i need hold you"
- "elm-acks!!" - this is him asking to watch the little elmo ducks (aka "elmo quacks") video on the computer or ipad
- "i need ride neigh neigh"
- "mommy/daddy, watch isss" - this is a pretty frequently heard expression. sometimes he wants us to watch him jump or shoot the basketball, but mostly he will say that to get attention and then have to figure out something at the last minute to "show" us. goober.
- "tacky cab" - took me a while to figure out this one, but he is referring to his taxi cab!
- "watch man-shess-serr" - this one makes daddy proud! he wants to "watch manchester" anytime he sees a soccer game on tv!
- "mommy....ah keem?" - he likes to play in his little ice cream truck and pretend to serve me ice cream. he takes my order then walks away to "make" the ice cream. too bad it's all pretend!
as you can probably guess, i could go on and on (and sort of did) about quinn! he is such a joy and we enjoy every moment we get to spend with him. the more he grows up, the more i treasure these little milestone posts because i helps me capture who he is to be able to remember all the little things i love about him. these are things i will hold close to my heart forever!
happy happy birthday, sweet boy. mommy, daddy, and caroline love you so much!!
