Montreal

John has been wanting to go to Montreal since we moved here. We always say we'll go for our anniversary one year, and then March rolls around and I realize I'd rather stay home than go somewhere COLDER than Boston in March! So a few months ago, we decided we HAD to go this summer or we might never make it! A couple of weeks ago we borrowed M & C's mini-van and headed up there with Bryan, Katie, and Eden. We left about 8pm after the kids were fed, bathed, and in their jammies. They both slept most of the way up there, which allowed Katie and I to sleep some and the guys to visit and enjoy their music in the front seat that no one else wanted to listen to :).

The next morning, we headed downtown to the historic part of Montreal. Here are the cute kiddos all ready to go!

One of the streets in historic Montreal. It felt very European, which was fun considering it's only about 5.5 hours from Boston!

Mommies and Strollers!

On Saturday we walked up the trails/stairs to the top of Mont Royal, which offers an amazing view of the city. John and Bryan volunteered to carry the babes, though they might not have been so eager to do that if they had known what a hike it was! We realized we are all out of shape...

The fox outfit made its debut! (and was quickly soaked in drool as you can see)

That afternoon we walked through the underground city, which might have been more fun if the shops and restaurants weren't closed. Oh well!

After the underground city, we headed to the plateau which is supposed to be the trendy part of town. Quinn got his first ride on Daddy's shoulders which he LOVED. He laughed the entire time! John had to put him down, though, when his arms got tired...only to find his hair completely soaked in drool :). We ate at a cool Mediterranean restaurant and then headed back to the apartment.

Quinn in his highchair like a big boy!

Sunday morning we packed up the swagger wagon and went back to the plateau so the guys could hit up a few record stores they wanted to go to. We ate at an awesome diner where they only spoke French and we got to show off our French skills by translating the menu! And on our way home, just before we crossed the border, we stopped at an orchard with a little store and bought some delicious homemade jam. Can I tell you how much my mouth was watering when I walked in the store....they had a bakery with homemade apple pies, apple crisp, and cider donuts but OF COURSE they all contained milk and/or butter so no dessert for me. This kid better realize how much I love him!!

We were thankful to get to spend the weekend with great friends, explore a city we've been wanting to visit for years, and have a sweet little boy that travels so well! He did great and has now already been out of the country twice - what a world traveler :).

Looks like such a great time! So impressed you did an entire meal all in French!

Don't you worry...there's more fox outfits from where that one came from. I wonder if there was a reason it was on super sale at Gymboree??? Hmmm...
