We didn't arrive in Besancon until around 10pm and the kids slept most of the way, so when we arrived and they started playing with the grandparents and uncles they got pretty wound up! I think that was actually one of the worst nights of sleep we had on the whole trip because they would NOT go to sleep. I don't think they both fell asleep until after 1am and we had to be up early for family pictures and all-day travel to Berlin the next day. Not fun.

Then we ran back to the hotel in the rain, changed clothes, loaded up into the vans, and headed to the train station to make our way to Berlin!
