halloween week was busy and we had a hard time coming up with costumes for the kids this year. they were all over the place with their ideas. so at the last minute, we pieced together a butterfly and a pirate costume thanks to some borrowed dress up clothes from friends and a crazy trip to party city. for future reference, it is NOT a good idea to go to party city the day before halloween. don't do it!

a co-worker gave us this (falling apart) minion costume that was way too big for the kids so john wore it for a little bit. and then i made him take it off because he looked ridiculous.

we went trick-or-treating in our old neighborhood and it was so fun! people there go all-out: adults dress up and they decorate their yards and have fun games outside for the kids to play.
quinn was so excited for halloween this year! he was really brave, even at the houses with scary decorations. the hardest part was keeping him in eyesight. i think if we hadn't been telling him to slow down, he would have sprinted through the whole neighborhood!
we stopped by to say hi to gigi and papa afterwards since they were living in that neighborhood at the time.
and of course we ended the night with a family selfie in our skeleton jammies!
