we're off!

on a friday night in june, we did something i never thought i'd do with a 1 year old and 3 year old: we jumped on a plane and flew across the ocean to europe! thanks to grammy and grandpa for what's probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us. it was so fun and we made some really great memories. here begins picture overload... :)

settled into our seats and ready to take off. hooray for having an empty seat next to us so that we actually got 4 seats instead of 3!

as planned, we ate dinner before the flight and changed into jammies right after we boarded for our 8pm flight. it was perfect - right at bed time. UNTIL. they served dinner on the flight. it's 8pm people - eat before you get on the plane!! THEN they picked up the trays. THEN they brought around the duty-free cart. we distracted ourselves and our 2 tired babies with a movie and some books.  finally, 2 hours later, they dimmed the lights and we worked on getting these kiddos to sleep!

sweet sleeping boy - he did great on the flight!

baby girl tossed and turned a little, but she got cozy in my lap and slept for several hours. she did great too!

the sun came up over london and they served breakfast. quinn kept sleeping. we landed. quinn kept sleeping. we gathered our bags and put his shoes on. quinn kept sleeping. i never thought i'd wish for a longer flight, but when the kids are out cold you've gotta take advantage of it! he finally woke up as john carried him off the plane.

we had a layover at heathrow, so we enjoyed lunch at wagamama. delicious!! the kids enjoyed a cococino (warm frothed milk with cocoa powder) along with their lunch - nobody turns down a free cococino :).

the first of many pictures of quinn standing in front of a bear (or other large animal statue). he found this at heathrow and requested that we take a picture of him with the bear.

after a nice break to stretch our legs, eat lunch, and stock up on cadbury chocolate, we boarded the next flight. we all enjoyed nap time on the flight and woke up to our next adventure: rome!!
