I can't believe it's been 4 years since we got married! They have been 4 wonderful years filled with many happy memories. God has blessed us with the ability to take some great anniversary trips...we love being able to get away from everything and celebrate our marriage. For our 1st anniversary we stayed at a beautiful inn at Lake Winnipesaukee, NH and for our 2nd anniversary we went to NYC. After 2 winters up here, I decided that my only request for our 3rd anniversary was to go somewhere warm! So John surprised me and planned an amazing trip to Nashville where we got to see Carrie Underwood and Little Big Town at the Grand Ole Opry! It was the night that Carrie was asked by Randy Travis to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry - it was so cool to be there that night! If any of you watch American Idol, they showed it last week when her and Randy Travis were on the show.
Anyway, so again this year I suggested that we go someplace warm. It seems like this winter in Boston has been colder and snowier (that's probably not a word) than ever. So last Wednesday night we flew to Miami. We spent the night in Miami that night and then got up Thursday morning and drove through the Everglades to Ft. Myers Beach, where we stayed until Sunday. It was amazing! It was warm and sunny every day and we had a fun and relaxing time. Here are some highlights from the trip:

This is a picture of the Everglades from our car. You can see alligators laying on the bank of the river - right in the middle of the picture behind the fence.

After dinner on our first night in Ft.Myers Beach.

View from our balcony - to the right of the picture is the pool and the beach.

On the beach on Sanibel Island...it was a little bright for John :)

Seashells on the beach on Sanibel Island. We found this beautiful beach at the end of the island where the lighthouse is. The water was so clear!

View of that beach and the lighthouse from the bridge heading back to Ft. Myers Beach

The bridge going back to Ft. Myers Beach

On the beach before our last dinner in Florida. John made reservations at this great place right on the beach at sunset. It was beautiful!
One thing that we didn't take a picture of was The Heavenly Biscuit. This was the most AMAZING breakfast I have ever had. We ate there for our first breakfast in Ft. Myers Beach and we went back every day for breakfast! They are known for their biscuit sandwiches and homemade cinnamon rolls....so obviously we had biscuit sandwiches and cinnamon rolls every day! Oh, and sweet tea. YUM. I would go back to Ft. Myers Beach just to eat breakfast there.
Overall, we had a wonderful time. Unfortunately, on Sunday night we had to come back to freezing cold weather in Boston...

Oh I'm so jealous. We went to Estero Island (Ft. Meyers Beach) almost every other year growing up. It's a hidden treasure. Sanibel is beautiful too. Congratulations my friends. We're missin us some Boston folk around here! Much love from the Lucas'.
